Who We Are

We are Alpha Gamma Omega - the UCLA chapter of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. Since 2003, we have offered events and workshops geared towards supporting student aspirations, whether that be attending graduate schools, seeking career help, or even creative writing. Sigma Tau Delta was established in 1924 to confer distinction for high achievement in the English language, literature, and writing. Our chapter was re-established in 2021 and has been recognizing the academic achievements of UCLA English students since. As an honor society, Sigma Tau Delta is dedicated to fostering literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English and is the second-largest member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), with over 900 local chapters in the U.S. and abroad — and growing.

Student membership in Sigma Tau Delta is only by invitation to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at a college or university with an active Sigma Tau Delta chapter. It is an outward recognition of personal accomplishment and signifies that those invited to join Sigma Tau Delta have achieved the Society’s high standards of academic excellence. Through membership with Sigma Tau Delta, you can earn academic recognition, scholarships, and writing awards, as well as gain exposure and priority for numerous internships, student leadership positions, community service, postgraduate careers, and professional advancement opportunities. Every year, Sigma Tau Delta hosts the international convention, which is an opportunity for members and faculty to hear students from throughout the U.S. and abroad present their creative and critical writing, attend sessions on student leadership and chapter activities, and listen to presentations by noted authors.
